As EWU students, faculty and staff return to campus for in-person classes this fall, Student Affairs is looking forward to again welcoming students to the PUB and the Roost. We are excited to announce the following changes to promote campus engagement of students, staff, and faculty.
The Roost
The Roost will reopen this fall as the new Student Recreation Lounge and eSports Center. All students, staff and faculty are welcome to enjoy the shuffle boards, air hockey table, golf simulator*, and eSports stations. It’s a great space to host club team-building events and special occasions, or to just come and relax with friends at the end of the day. The space will be open for drop-ins Monday – Thursday afternoons and during home hockey games. If you have questions about reserving the Roost for you and your group, please email Courtney Sherwin at csherwin1@ewu.edu.
*Golf Simulator may be reserved in advance, and includes additional costs for non-student users.
PUB Updates
The PUB is our student union building, but it is not just for students: It is the center of our thriving campus community, a place where faculty and staff gather and, most importantly, connect with our students between classes and on a personal level.
PUB Meeting Spaces
The Nysether Community Room (NCR), on the PUB’s first floor, has been an underutilized space on campus, and we understand that the previous pricing structure was cost prohibitive. The PUB administration has worked closely with key campus partners to adjust the pricing structure for this space while still maintaining the resources needed to keep the space well-kept and operational. Campus departments can rent the NCR for a discounted fee of $150 per day for a basic setup; audio/visual (AV) support requires a professional sound technician — cost is dependent upon the needs of the event. As the PUB is a student-funded building, student organizations are not charged the rental fee, but will still incur costs for AV support.
The PUB offers 6 meeting rooms that can be scheduled at no cost to student organizations and campus departments. Reservations can be made for meeting rooms and the NCR through 25 Live https://25live.collegenet.com/ewu/.
Departmental moves
Student Accounting has moved into the Student Organizations suite, PUB 307. This will be a great benefit to student organizations, and will make the Student Organizations suite a hub for our student clubs and organizations to get the support they need to grow and engage.
The suite formerly known as the Technology Center will now be known as the Student Productions Suite; it will be the home of The Easterner and Eagle Sound Productions beginning fall quarter. Students will be able to schedule use of the AV studio — details on this process will be forthcoming.
