EWU Alumni Virtual RED Hour: Giving Joy to All

Grab a drink of choice, wear your Eagle gear and join the EWU Alumni Association for a Virtual RED Hour, it’s better than happy hour! We are planning on ending our annual Giving Joy Day with a fun inaugural event to celebrate joy in our communities during this time of transition and new normal.

Russell Kolts, PhD, EWU psychology professor

Joining us for a 10 minute presentation on mindfulness is Eastern’s own Russell Kolts. Kolts is a licensed clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at Eastern, where he has taught for the past 21 years and has received numerous awards, including twice being named the Associated Student Body’s Faculty of the Year. An internationally-recognized expert on Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Kolts has authored or coauthored numerous books and scholarly articles, including, The Compassionate Mind Guide to Managing your Anger, An Open Hearted Life: Transformative Lessons for Compassionate Living from a Clinical Psychologist and a Buddhist Nun (with Thubten Chodron), CFT Made Simple, and Experiencing Compassion-Focused Therapy from the Inside Out.

Kolts has pioneered the application of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to the treatment of problematic anger and regularly conducts training and workshops on CFT. In his personal life, Kolts enjoys time with his family, outdoor activities, listening to and playing music, and reading epic fantasy fiction.
