EWUPD Officer Receives Top Air National Guard Honor

A new Eastern Washington University police officer is already making the department and the university proud. Officer Cheyanne Aiken, a citizen airman in the 141st Air Refueling Wing stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, recently received the Top Air National Guardsman of the Year Award.

Aiken was selected for the award by her wing and the Air National Guard community for her positivity, hard work, dedication and resilience. Qualities sure to be an asset to the Eastern Washington University Police Department.

“We are extremely excited to have her joining our family here at EWUPD,” says Deputy Chief Jewell Day. “Her being honored with the National Guardsman of the Year is a testament to the quality of individual that she is.”

Aiken is currently attending the Basic Law Enforcement Academy in Burien, Washington. She will graduate as a commissioned officer in January 2020.

“She will be a welcome and positive influence to our team as well as our campus community,” adds Deputy Chief Day.
