Eastern Washington University’s Dental Hygiene Clinic has been awarded a $43,255 grant from the Arcora Foundation to replace an aging vacuum pump.
A vacuum pump is required for suction and helps pull mercury into the collection unit. Eastern’s teaching clinic is larger than a typical dental office, with 46 chairs, which means it requires higher capacity equipment. The current vacuum pump is 20 years old and starting to corrode.
The clinic plans to have the new pump installed before reopening later this summer.
