Okay, it wasn’t the real Swoop, but a small Swoop stuffed animal hitched a ride on a high-altitude balloon (HAB) launched by the EWU Aerospace Club.
The photo you see was captured on Friday, June 17, with “Swoop” soaring about 75,000 feet above the ground after take-off from Mesa Elementary School just south of Connell, Washington.
Garner Prior, president of the EWU Aerospace Club, points out the HAB project helped students build skills and gain experience for more complex projects during the next academic year.
“The image with Swoop was captured to show everyone at EWU that the Aerospace Club is an active member of the community and have many accomplishments to come,” says Prior.
