Eastern Washington University interim President David May is pleased to announce the hiring of Erin Ross as the director of Tribal Relations at EWU.
Ross is a member of the Cowlitz Tribe in Southwest Washington, and most recently worked with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe as a planning manager where she was involved with economic development, land use, transportation and sovereignty. She also served as chief of staff for Lisa Brown’s 2018 congressional campaign.
“Erin’s combination of political leadership and tribal engagement provides EWU with valuable and significant perspective and capabilities,” says May.
She began her new position on July 1.
Ross has earned two degrees from Eastern, a bachelor’s degree in government and, most recently, a master’s degree in urban and regional planning with a specialization in Tribal planning.
In leading Eastern’s Tribal relations efforts, Ross will focus on how the university might better partner with regional tribes and urban partners.
