Alys Seifert, a long-time educator in EWU’s Modern Languages and Literature Department, died on March 4, 2020 at the age of 84.
According to Seifert’s Legacy.com obituary, she was born in the small village of Crouy sur Cosson in central France. After meeting her future husband, an American, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1958 where she married and raised three children.
Seifert earned a Masters of Education in French language and history from EWU. She stayed with the university after graduation to teach and manage the study abroad program for 22 years. Seifert retired from EWU in 2003.
