In Memoriam: June Hopkins


June Hopkins, who took pride in ensuring campus looked beautiful while working in the grounds department, died on Feb. 7, 2021 at the age of 89.

Hopkins worked as a horticulturist at Eastern Washington University. According to her obituary, Hopkins especially loved caring for the Rose Garden and the Seattle Seahawks practice field. The Seahawks held summer training camp at EWU from 1976-85 and again from 1997-2007. Hopkins retired as lead groundskeeper in 1993 after 15 years of service to the university.
