Philip Weller, a longtime educator and professor emeritus in the EWU English Department, died on Feb. 1, 2021. He was 79.
Weller earned a BA in English from the University of Puget Sound (1963), an MA in English Literature from Washington State University (1965), and a PhD in English Literature from Kent State University (1969) before settling at Eastern Washington University where he spent more than 50 years teaching. He specialized in Shakespeare and Renaissance English Literature.
In addition to enriching countless students’ lives, Weller devoted innumerable hours to his personal website, Shakespeare-navigators.com, a collection of annotated and illustrated plays by William Shakespeare.
