Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies (GWSS) is excited to inform the campus about a post-election webinar series on a critical topic: White Supremacy, the 2020 Election & the Pacific Northwest. White supremacy has played an enormous role in the 2020 election by framing debates, stoking fear and fomenting division.

In the election aftermath, GWSS is creating space for the campus community to come together, analyze what happened, and think about how to move forward in anti-racist, decolonial solidarity. The series of three webinars will feature brilliant scholar-activists from the Pacific Northwest to discuss how white supremacy factored in the 2020 election, and explore particular impacts in our region. The three post-election webinars will offer perspectives from the areas of White Power & Hate Studies, Indigenous Studies, and Immigration Studies.

Students, staff, faculty and the community are welcome to attend one or all of the sessions. Free Zoom registration is available here. All seminars will be held on Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. PST.

GWSS is also offering this series as a 1-credit course, GWSS 397. EWU students who are already planning to attend all three sessions should consider enrolling to get credit. Enrolled students will have the opportunity to engage with each other and Judy Rohrer, PhD, director of the GWSS program, on what they’ve learned through the webinars. They will also do additional reading and writing to earn the credit. Email judy.rohrer@ewu.edu for more information on enrolling.

This offering from GWSS addresses EWU’s ongoing commitment to addressing ever-changing regional, national and global environments.
