PUB Receives Second Design Award in 3 Months

The newly renovated Pence Union Building (PUB) has won another national award. The Eastern Washington University PUB renovation project was awarded the 2019 Boston Society of Architects (BSA) Education Facility Design – Citation Award. Representatives from Perkins & Will, the architects behind the design, accepted the award on Jan. 23.

The Education Facility Design Award recognizes education facilities of all kinds. The PUB was among 13 other winners located all over the country.

Last October the PUB received a citation award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Washington Council. The award highlights projects with the highest standards in sustainability, innovation, building performance and overall integration with the client and surrounding communities. Specifically, the judges emphasized the face of the PUB and the auditorium staircase.

The PUB renovation project was completed in the winter of 2019. To learn more about the $47 million transformation of the iconic building, check out the Eastern Magazine article, Union, Reborn.
