EWU President Mary Cullinan, the university’s leadership team, and campus health experts hosted a virtual town hall on Tuesday to answer questions about summer and fall operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. During the July 14 meeting, leadership outlined updated procedures to ensure the health and safety of the EWU community. Staff, faculty and students are encouraged to visit the EWU Coronavirus Webpage for updated announcements and resources. There you can read the latest announcements; learn more about case reporting, tracking and notification procedures; report a case; find out about closures and restrictions on campus, and more.
EWU has received reports of positive coronavirus cases and reports of potential exposure of individuals among the campus community. EWU is tracking all reported cases, coordinating with public health officials, sanitizing affected areas, and following contact tracing and notification protocols. Individuals and groups who are identified as having been in close contact with someone on campus who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be appropriately notified. Per the Spokane Regional Health District, someone is a close contact if they were within six feet of an infected person for 15 minutes or more.
Due to the ongoing public health situation, EWU courses beginning in the second summer session will be delivered fully online. Employees are encouraged to telecommute whenever possible. No in-person meetings or events will be permitted on campus until further notice. Anyone who is on campus is required to wear a facial covering when in a public space and fill-out the COVID-19 Daily Symptom Check found at the top of the InsideEWU website.
