Eastern’s annual Senior Exhibition showcases the work of graduating seniors enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program. This year’s exhibition, “Externalities,” includes the work of five bachelor’s degree candidates working in a variety of media and styles.
To kick off the exhibition, a reception celebrating the work of the 2022 BFA cohort, will be held in the EWU Gallery of Art at noon on Thursday, May 19. Refreshments will be provided.
The exhibition will feature artwork by student artists Seth Collier, Rain McCauley, Sky McCauley, Rachel Ross and Jackson Sloan.
Collier specializes in digital visual art. He was a 2021 scholarship winner from the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists. His work has been included in local shows such as Terrain and Apostrophe, and is currently on view at MAD Co. Labs Studios.
McCauley’s artwork is primarily digital, with an emphasis in 2D animation and illustration. She also utilizes her education in screenwriting to build on the chronicles of her works.
McCauley is a freelance illustrator and concept artist. She was inspired at an early age by cartoons, storybook illustration and animation. She describes her work as creation in relation to storytelling, developing the backbones of immersive and often fantastical narratives through her art.
Ross is a multidisciplinary artist who explores various mediums. She is currently working in printmaking, which allows her to showcase her varying skills, including drawing and painting.
Sloan has spent much of his youth focused on street art and graffiti. He has developed a unique urban style that integrates urban aesthetics with architecture and modernism. His work seeks to engage with a variety of media, among them large-scale murals, sculpture, canvas painting, and ink drawing.
