PAWS- Progressive Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is an organization based in Seattle, also known as Progressive Animal Welfare Society. The PAWS Mission Statement is: “PAWS is people helping cats, dogs and wild animals go home and thrive – whether home is the family room or the forest. We do this by rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife, sheltering and adopting homeless cats and dogs, and educating the community to inspire compassionate action for animals.”

Pencil Project

This is a pencil drive for kids and families that simply cannot afford pencils or writing utensils. Education gets put on the “back burner” sort of speak for many people all over the world, providing food on the table can be hard enough and it comes down to it, they stop seeing schooling as a priority. This gives kids the opportunity that they didn’t see as possible before.

Crosswalk Youth shelter

The purpose of Crosswalk is to end child homelessness and connect the kids to supporting and stable services. They have an array of case managers, health care workers, volunteers, teachers, and chemical dependency counselors to help work with the kids. The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a nonprofit veteran’s service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. Their mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military, and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. For Veteran’s Day, my second-grade class wrote thank you cards for our local veterans. We learned all the branches of the military as well as well known memorials. Students recognized how brave these people are and how their courageous actions have provided safety and freedom to all Americans.
