The 33rd Annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research

This year's event will take place at the Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, Georgia from April 11th - 13th, 2019. We need your excellence, innovation, and critical thinking for NCUR 2019. Start thinking about your research abstract that will "Inspire" others!

Please refer below to KSU's NCUR timelines, such as abstract submission deadline. This is important since the student's NCUR abstract submission is taken into careful consideration and acceptance for presentation is not guaranteed.

FAQ - Travel to NCUR

Will EWU pay travel expenses for all students of an abstract accepted for presentation at NCUR? Expand

Unfortunately, funding is limited to primary students of accepted abstract. It is possible EWU will not be able to fund all students accepted by NCUR.

How many students will be funded to attend NCUR? Expand

The number of primary students funded by EWU for travel to NCUR varies, according to budget.

What travel expenses will EWU cover? Expand

EWU will pay the primary student's NCUR travel related expenses, as follows: conference registration, airfare, ground transportation between airport & hotel, lodging, and meals at per diem rate. Transportation between hotel and conference site will be provided by NCUR or vans rented by EWU. Students will be responsible for expenses they incur for souvenirs, personal side-trip, food purchases that exceed their maximum diem and incidental rate expenses.

I am not currently attending EWU, but conducted my research at EWU. May I apply for travel funding? Expand

In order to apply for NCUR travel funding, the student presenter must be an enrolled full-time EWU student during at least the quarter before and during NCUR travel.

I am not presenting at NCUR, may I still apply for travel funding? Expand

Unfortunately, funding is only available for the primary student presenter of abstract accepted by NCUR and EWU.

May I leave early or stay later than the conference dates? Expand

If it is necessary for you to change your travel date(s), immediately contact Mary Jo Van Bemmel with your request. If student's request is approved, they are responsible for payment of change fee or airfare cost increase.

May I have a travel companion for the NCUR trip? Expand

The student approved for travel expenses funded by EWU is not allowed to have their spouse/family/friend/etc., accompany them on NCUR trip. If this student has a documented medical reason that requires special accommodation; they will need to contact EWU Disability Support Services Director Kevin Hills (khills@ewu.edu) about their need.

How much will I receive for my meals? Expand

Primary students will receive funds from EWU to pay for their meals at per diem rate while in travel status, according to government & state policies. Meals provided by the conference will be deducted from the travelers' daily allowance.

How many students will share a room? Expand

Two students will be assigned to share a room with two queen size beds and roommate preference requests will be considered by the travel coordinator.
