JDRF stands for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Their mission is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and support those in the community living with T1D. Join the team to help turn Type One into Type None!
JDRF is the biggest nonprofit foundation that is determined to finding a cure to Type 1 Diabetes. They are passionate about this mission and don’t want to quit until that cure is found. There are about 1.25 million Americans living with T1D. This includes people of all ages. That means this organization can help support 1.25 million people by not only funding research, but giving those living with T1D a networking circle. Since T1D needs to be managed 24/7 making sure that their blood sugar levels are just right they want to provide a circle of people who are there to support one another through their journey and experiences. JDRF raises money in many ways including direct donations, runs, walks, galas, and much more. They will even work with you to create the fundraiser your way.
I choose this organization because our school has three students living with T1D. I used an idea from something I saw online with the help of a local coordinator to make it happen. I sent flyers home that explained that by donating $1.00 the student could wear pajamas on a specific date. However, there are many other ways your students could help raise money like a school walk or run. Their website supplies a long list of possible ideas.
