Fairchild Air Force Base

Fairchild Air Force Base is a military instillation located in Airway Heights, WA. There are a variety of units and missions conducted through this base, but their main focus is the air refueling mission. The base is home to Active Duty Members, Reservists, and a National Guard squadron. There are also a number of other units including the survival, evasion, resistance and escape school, medical units, and a weapons squadron.

Many people can benefit from the assistance provided by the United States Military. All too often it slips our mind how much military members sacrifice for our freedom. Although there are many disagreements within the states, these men and women are out protecting our freedom and fighting to help many others as well, sometimes all the way across the world. It’s because of their sacrifices that we can live the way that we do. While learning about specific countries or how different countries work together, there are great opportunities to connect with service men and women who are station or deployed to those areas. There are bases all over the world with numerous missions, all of whom we should consider to be our heroes.

How can you thank these service members? There are four main holidays that guide us to honor our heroes including Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, and Independence Day. These are some of the main times that people send letters, but our service men and women could use a pick me up on any day of the year! Partnering with a military base allows opportunities for you to make a difference in soldier’s lives when they need it most. Writing letters and sending pictures and a few snacks to deployed troops can make a huge difference in soldier’s minds when they are missing home. Receiving letters from students they have never even met can remind people why they are there doing what they do, even in the toughest of times.
