Animal Humane Society

The mission of AHS is to “To engage the hearts, hands, and minds of the community to help animals”. They focus their efforts on creating a more humane world for animals. They do so by finding homes for animals, creating service projects, transforming the care shelters provide for animals, and starting new adoption shelters.

This organization allows for people of all ages to make a difference in the lives of animals that are in need of love. On their website, they have a community page, an adoption page, a how to help page, and a kids and families page. You are even able to look at the different partner organizations within the AHS organization. There is so much that this organization does for animals within our nation. They discuss pet cruelty, dog training classes, adoption services, various fundraisers, volunteering, and animal kids camps. They are striving to always help animals in need, and are making a difference in the lives of animals around the country. Without these services, many animals would go unloved and not cared for. Teachers should consider partnering with them because of the difference they make for all struggling animals.

There is a variety of ways that teachers can partner with this organization. They even give examples of school projects, community service projects, and classroom programs and workshops that are available. These resources are so easily accessible that any teacher is able to use them. They give ideas to help fund raise such as doing bake sales with your class and community, starting service learning projects like making pet supply bags for those in the community, or group craft making projects to make toys or even outdoor shelters. These ideas given to teachers from this website are just some examples of what students can do when partnering with AHS.
