Blessings in a Backpack helps America by feeding children and families over the weekend while school is not in session. They mobilize communities, individuals and organizations and resources to provide food over the weekends. Teachers should consider partnering with this organization as often as they can because it is a way to not only help our their local community but others around them. This organization makes a difference every day to students around America that need help.
There are many ways your classroom can get involves with Blessings in a Backpack! You can have the whole school do a fundraiser and donate online, contact one of the partnering organizations listed on the website and do a collaboration as a class with a project. There is also a opportunity for your classroom to send in letters of recognition of encouragement for the projects local communities do for this organization. If your class does not have time to create a bake sale or other more detailed projects there is always a option to write small thank you cards to help keep the ball rolling. The website also posts upcoming events your class can be apart of on the regular. Keep your eye out for new events each month!
