About EPIC

EPIC Adventures provides guided outdoor trips, trainings, events, and outdoor gear rentals to the EWU community. Our programs and services are designed to fit your budget and schedule! Focused on introducing EWU students to new activities, EPIC Adventures has programs designed for students of all skill levels. EPIC Adventures puts value into fostering an inclusive community where students can develop confidence, useful skills, and lasting relationships.

EPIC Adventures will continue to monitor Governor Inslee's Safe Start Washington plan and align our policies and procedures with the updated guidelines for Outdoor Recreation and Curbside Retail services. Eastern Washington University may implement additional restrictions  as necessary to protect students, staff, faculty, as well as the extended EWU community. Phase 1 Services
Phase 1 policies and procedures may change with evolving guidelines from Governor Inslee's "Safe Start" plan, and/or Eastern Washington University. Policy changes will be reflected on this website in real time. Thank you for your patience. 

General Information

  • Staffing: EPIC Adventures staff will work remotely, resulting in closed offices and suspended operations.
  • Office: EPIC Adventures office, located at 150 URC, will be closed.
  • Phone: The primary EPIC phone number (509-359-4014) will be forwarded to staff, though there may be some delays in response to calls and voicemails.
  • Emails: The primary EPIC email address (epicadvent@ewu.edu) will be checked regularly, though there may be delays in responding to messages.
  • Virtual Recreation: EPIC Adventures will continue to support EWU's active community through virtual programs using the Active At Home website. This will be your best resource to see what trails are open near you. You can also find inspiration for new adventures on this site by connecting with a virtual community of adventures.

Outdoor Equipment Rental Services

  • Rental Services will be suspended.

Adventure Trips Services

  • Adventure trip services will be suspended.
Phase 2 Service (Current)
Phase 2 policies and procedures may change with evolving guidelines from Governor Inslee's "Safe Start" plan, and/or Eastern Washington University. Policy changes will be reflected on this website in real time. Thank you for your patience. 

General Information

  • Staffing: EPIC Adventures staff will return to work in the main office, practicing strict social distancing, use of PPE, and personal hygiene. Meetings will occur through Zoom or phone, limited in-person meetings. Click HERE to view the measures EWU has put in place to manage the personal wellbeing of each employee, and the extended EWU community. Staffing levels will be reduced.
  • Office: EPIC Adventures office, located at 150 URC, will be closed to the public. Staff will assist customers through phone and online communication methods. In person transactions will be prohibited. Due to reduced staffing levels, EPIC's hours of operation may be limited.
  • Phone: The primary EPIC phone number (509-359-4014) will be forwarded to staff, though there may be some delays in response to calls and voicemails due to reduced staffing levels.
  • Emails: The primary EPIC email address (epicadvent@ewu.edu) will be checked regularly, though there may be delays in responding to messages due to reduced staffing levels.
  • Virtual Recreation: EPIC Adventures will continue to support EWU's active community through virtual programs using the Active At Home website. This will be your resource to see what trails are open near you. You can also find inspiration for new adventures on this site by connecting with a virtual community of adventures.

Outdoor Equipment Rental Services

  • Available Equipment: Equipment that can be staged without sizing, and that can be issued to customers through curbside retail methods will be offered. HERE is a list of the available equipment.
  • Unavailable Equipment: Equipment that requires fitting or sizing, or that requires in-person interactions where social distancing is not possible will be prohibited.
  • Reservation Process: Equipment must be reserved over the phone. A credit card number must be provided at the time of the reservation in order to confirm the order.
  • Pickup Process: Equipment must be picked up and returned during normal hours of operation. Staff and customers must maintain strict social distancing throughout the pickup/return process. See full pick up instructions HERE.

Adventure Trips Services

  • We have day and evening trips with limited sized groups. We now meet at trip site, as we are not able to provide transportation at this stage. Masks are asked to be worn when within 10 feet of other participants unless you are living together. You will be provided with a mask, gloves, and hand sanitizer. Check out our trips page for the schedule. Trips are also posted on shopeaglrec.ewu and Eagle Sync.
Phase 3 Services
Phase 3 policies and procedures may change with evolving guidelines from Governor Inslee's "Safe Start" plan, and/or Eastern Washington University. Policy changes will be reflected on this website in real time. Thank you for your patience.

Customers are encouraged to conduct transactions over the phone and online when possible. Due to reduced staffing levels, EPIC's hours of operation may be limited.
  • Phone: The primary EPIC phone number (509-359-4014) will be answered during normal hours of operation. There may be some delays in responding to calls and voicemails due to reduced staffing levels.
  • Emails: The primary EPIC email address (epicadvent@ewu.edu) will be checked regularly, though there may be delays in responding to messages due to reduced staffing levels.
  • Virtual Recreation: EPIC Adventures will continue to support EWU's active community through virtual programs using the Active At Home website. Outdoor Equipment Rental Services

  • Available Equipment: Most of EPIC Adventures rental inventory will be made available for reservations. HERE is a list of the available equipment.
  • Unavailable Equipment: Limitations will still exist for equipment that requires physical interactions within 6 ft between either staff and/or customers.
  • Reservation Process: Equipment must be reserved over the phone. A credit card number must be provided at the time of the reservation in order to confirm the order.
  • Pickup Process: Equipment must be picked up and returned during normal hours of operation. Staff and customers must maintain strict social distancing throughout the pickup/return process. See full pick up instructions HERE.

Adventure Trips Services

  • Transportation: Participants may be permitted to transport themselves to and from the activity. Transportation provided by EPIC Adventures may be limited small groups sizes in order to maintain social distancing.
  • Day Trips: Day Trips will be offered for EWU students. Trips may be limited to smaller groups in order to maintain social distancing during activities. Some activities where social distancing is not possible may be suspended. Participants are encouraged to use a cloth mask or face covering during activities and transitions.
  • Overnight Trips: Overnight trips will be suspended.

  • Transportation: Participants may choose between self-transport and transportation provided by EPIC Adventures.
  • Day Trips: Full Day Trips will resume. Participants are encouraged to wear a cloth mask of face covering throughout activities and transitions.
  • Overnight Trips: Full overnight trips will resume. Participants are encouraged to wear a cloth mask or face covering throughout activities and transitions. Participants may need to share shelters and living quarters at night.
