36th Annual Policy Seminar
This week The Council for Opportunity Education is holding its 36th Annual Policy Seminar. “This is an opportunity for the TRIO and GEAR UP communities to help educate Members of the 114th Congress, congressional staff, and Obama Administration officials about the history and the success of TRIO and GEAR UP. More importantly, this event gives participants a chance to represent the interests of low-income and first-generation students and veterans, adult learners, and students with disabilities in the policy arena.” Our program Director, Dr. Christina Torres Garcia, met with Eastern Washington’s chief advocate in Congress Cathy McMorris Rodgers in Washington D.C., to help advocate for TRIO Programs. One of our Alumni, Bruno Baltodano also had his story featured at the annual seminar!
