Walmart partners with many global causes and is very green conscious. They will take all recycled plastic bags, so they do not have to be thrown out and end up in the garbage fills. These will be sold to china overseas to be reused.
There are many grocery retailers that have recycling programs. As a teacher this is convenient if you are the one traveling to recycle them. Walmart’s are always nearby and have the resources and service to take on earth friendly projects to help the environment. The bags they collect get sent out to be recycled overseas. This way they don’t get thrown out into landfills. This is teaching students that any small thing can help the environment.
Choose an activity related to recycling plastic bags and contact your local Walmart so they can distribute elsewhere. Walmart also has other global community events and ideas for students to be involved. Students can collect plastic bags from school and at home to bring to class to be donated to the organization. Teachers can tie in social studies lessons to this project.
