Modest Needs is a company that helps people receive grants for various causes. Such as, medical care, living expenses, and crisis relief. As a donor you can choose to donate anonymously or not and to any cause of your choice.
Modest Needs helps make a difference by providing funds for people and families who may be struggling to get the resources themselves. These funds can help provide resources for necessities that can help the receivers actively participate in daily life. The organizations goal in any instance is to help ease the burden that the lack of monetary resources causes on small and large levels.
This could directly benefit the community you are in. A member of the local community could apply and that could be what a class decides to donate to. Or, it could impact a community member or place from a different area. This would allow the people making the donation to make a difference and help someone in need and instill a sense of helpfulness. Something of this nature could be a lesson on the different needs and cultures of others while also preparing students to be active members of their community with the initiative to improve the lives of themselves and others.
The Modest Needs organization makes it very easy to work with them. Once you go to their site the homepage has brief descriptions of who needs help with what. You click on the HELP NOW button and it takes you to a page with a longer description where you can donate. You can work with your school to raise money for a cause that your students agree upon and send in the money via gift check. Or you can set up an application to apply for help.
