“Blessing the life of a child in foster care, one child at a time.” The goal of Embrace Washington is to bless and transform the lives of children living in foster care. This organization is a local organization that provides support and care for children around the area in the foster care system. Embrace Washington strives to provide essentials for these children whether it be a new bed, funds for a sporting camp, or helping find a foster family.
Embrace Washington has partnered with over 25 businesses who enrich Embrace Washington with donations, event sponsorships, and many services for children in foster care. With the help of their sponsors, Embrace Washington is able to host family fun events for foster families which allow foster parents and children to build healthy relationships and have memorable experiences together. In addition, this organization has been able to provide over 2000 welcome boxes to foster care children in our community, and over 900 duffel bags. Embrace Washington strives to raise up new foster families, reduce the number of children entering foster care, and helps children in the foster care system become adopted.
Teachers and Students are able to partner with this organization in multiple ways. My 1st grade class at Adams Elementary constructed 4 Welcome Boxes. Welcome boxes are boxes full of items that the foster care children receive while waiting in a Department of Social Health Services waiting room. The boxes include essentials such as socks, flashlights and also include a few fun items like stuffed animals, or toys. Other ways to get involved with this organization include becoming a foster parent, designing a duffel bag for foster children’s items to be stored, or doing a sewing project to create a hand-made stuffed animal for these children.
