2nd Harvest partners with schools and community partners to create the organization of Bite 2 Go. This is a program that supplies weekend food supplies to children in need during the school year. Their mission is to provide healthy food and hope to children in need during the school year.
Bite 2 Go is a great organization that schools in Spokane are paired with. Every Thursday, a bag filled with healthy and kid friendly food is sent home to the students in need. Seeing these students faces who receive Bite 2 Go, light up when they know they are going to have food to eat for the weekend, is reason enough to find a way to help. If Bite 2 Go wasn’t around these student’s might not have food during the weekend otherwise. This organization is making a huge difference in the children who are in need because the bag of food they receive is giving them the comfort of knowing that they will be able to eat.
The school itself is partnered with Bite 2 Go but there are many ways to contribute individually. To contribute to Bite 2 Go, you can be one of the staff members who puts together the food bags or one who donates; 1 dollar, supplies 5 kids with a Bite 2 Go bag for the weekend. Another way to get involved is to raise money through a fundraiser. Any amount helps!
