The purpose of the American Red Cross is to provide support and resources for individuals and families that are struggling. This includes but is not limited to organizing blood donation drives, collecting donations for resources like food, water, clothing and supplies, and working in groups to clean up after natural disasters. The American Red Cross strives to provide everyone with basic human needs.

The American Red Cross is an organization that helps families and individuals around the globe meet basic human needs like food, shelter and clothing. When people are displaced by natural disaster, ARC not only provides those in need with resources, volunteers work together to clean up and restore houses and buildings. The American Red Cross also participate in blood drive where they encourage people to donate blood and save a life. Teachers should consider partnering with this organization because they work tirelessly to support families with basic essentials. You never know what is going to happen or when you may need help but working with the ARC will show how we can make a difference. This also teaches students to be caring and to help others.

There are a couple of way that I feel teachers and students can partner with the American Red Cross. To begin with, high school students can host a blood drive at the school and get students and teachers to donate blood. In my high school we as students prepared and organized the event whole the ARC provided the supplies and material that they needed. For younger levels I would do things like donation drives either to gather supplies like blankets, clothing and food for families displaced by natural disasters. In my own school we participate with the American Red Cross in trick or treat for disaster relief. Rather than doing traditional trick or treating, in groups we went door to door asking for donations. This is a fun activity that will get students involved within their community and help them make a difference.
