EWU McNair Scholar Lily Ann Long Accepted to Point Park Psy.D. Program

Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Lily Ann Long! Lily has been accepted into the Point Park University's PsyD Program. Lily Ann is a senior at Eastern Washington University majoring in Psychology. During her time at EWU, she has worked as a research assistant in Dr. Theresa Martin’s social psychology lab researching patterns within intimate relationships and stigmatization of mental health disorders, as a research assistant in Dr. Kolts’s clinical psychology lab researching problematic anger in a sample of adult men and the co-occurence of complex trauma and childhood gender dysphoria related to adult gender expression, and as a research assistant for Advancement Services helping to research and create case evaluations for prospects. In addition, Lily Ann worked as a summer intern through McNair with mentor Dr. Aryn Zeihnert, researching first-generation students’ experiences of shame as they relate to the academic context. EWU McNair Scholar Madelyn Brown Accepted into Multiple Masters Programs

Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Madelyn Brown! Madelyn has been accepted into the Masters of History program at Washington State University with full funding, the Masters of History program at the University of Oregon with full funding, and the Masters of History program at Claremont Graduate University!  Madelyn is a senior at Eastern Washington University majoring in History with an emphasis in American Indian Studies. To prepare for graduate school Madelyn completed a summer research internship through the EWU McNair Scholars Program, with mentors Dr. Christina García Torres and PhD candidate and lecturer SimHayKin S. Jack, researching traditional ecological knowledge and wildfire prevention. She was also the recipient of the 2018 Gingolyx Village Government scholarship for academic excellence. EWU McNair Scholar Abdulrazik Mohamed Accepted to Masters Program at American University

Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Abdulrazik Mohamed! Abdu has been accepted into the Masters in Global Governance, Politics, and Security at American University. Abdu is a senior at Eastern Washington University majoring in International Affairs. To prepare for graduate school Abdu completed two summers of research internships through the EWU McNair Program with mentor Dr. Dorothy Zeisler-Vralsted researching the conflict in Darfur and perceptions of that conflict. Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Maria Rivera Diaz! Maria has been accepted into the Masters in Public Health program at Oregon State University. Maria is a senior at Eastern Washington University majoring in Applied Developmental Psychology and Public Health with a minor in Chicano Studies. To prepare for graduate school Maria completed a summer research internship through the EWU McNair Program with mentor Dr. Martín Meráz García researching health care access for farmworkers in the Yakima Valley. EWU McNair Scholar Wendolyn Martinez Accepted to Summer Institute at the University of Michigan!

Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Wendolyn Martinez! Wendolyn has been accepted into the Junior Summer Institute in Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) at the University of Michigan. This summer institute is an intensive seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing undergraduate students from all over the United States for graduate programs in public policy and international affairs. This fellowship includes a stipend, University housing, books and related course materials, and the cost of airfare to and from the program! Wendolyn completed research last summer as a part of the EWU McNair Scholar program comparing propaganda from the US and the USSR with mentor Dr. Dorothy Zeisler-Vralsted. We're so excited for Wendolyn's next step in preparing for graduate school! To learn more about Wendolyn and her research, check out her page on our website!

EWU McNair Scholar Angelica Garcia-Macias Accepted into Multiple PhD Programs

Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Angelica Garcia-Macias! Angelica has been accepted into the Political Science PhD program at Michigan State University, the Political Science PhD program at the University of Washington, and the Political Science PhD program at the University of California, Irvine! All of these come with full funding. Angelica is a senior at Eastern Washington University majoring in Political Science and minoring in Chicano Studies and Spanish. To prepare for graduate school Angelica completed two summers of research internships: one through the EWU McNair Scholars Program with mentor Dr. Martín Meráz García researching housing discrimination in the Latinx community, and last summer at MIT with Dr. Charles Stewart III researching the Latiné vote.
