Mandatory Fees
The STA Transportation Fee was added to tuition each quarter beginning in January 2008. The agreement between Eastern and STA allows students, faculty and staff to ride buses for free during the academic year simply by showing their Eagle Card while traveling on any bus route. The STA transportation fee is assessed at any level of registration. It is available all four quarters.
The Comprehensive Health & Wellness Program is an all-inclusive approach to physical and psychological well-being for Eastern students. Any EWU student in a Cheney/Spokane based program taking six or more credits will participate in this program. Students will have access to a basic level of ambulatory health clinic services at any Multicare Clinic in Cheney, Medical Lake, and Spokane.
Students will also have access to counseling and psychological services at no extra cost. Health and wellness programming, education, and other wellness resources are also available. Additionally, this program supports collaborative educational efforts with Residence Life, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Multicare Clinics, Athletics, and other campus and community partners.

On April 2, 1999 the Associated Students of Eastern Washington University recommended to Eastern’s Board of Trustees that a mandatory technology fee be assessed on all Eastern students. The fee was implemented in accordance with RCW288.15.051 and the conditions described below. The technology fee is used to recover, in whole or in part, the costs of providing and maintaining services to students that include: access to the internet, e-mail, computer and multimedia work stations and laboratories and computer software. Fee dollars will be focused on two main goals:
(1) provide students with internet service, and (2) renew equipment in the General Use computer labs. The student technology fee is assessed at $4.00 per credit to a cap of $40.00 per quarter.
This fee was approved by the student body and the Associated Students of Eastern Washington University Student Council to fund the construction of the new facility. The fee will be assessed to students in the Cheney/Spokane area every quarter. The Recreation Center Fee is assessed at any level of registration.
The new Recreation Center was designed to be the nucleus of Student Life and Community Health and Wellness.
This fee was approved by the student body and the Associated Students of Eastern Washington University Student Council to fund the construction of the new Pence Union Building facility. The fee will be assessed to students in the Cheney/Spokane area every quarter/semester. The Pence Union Building Fee is assessed at any level of registration.
The International Student Enrollment fee helps underwrite ongoing costs associated with providing international student immigration and retention services. Beginning in fall 2013, all F and J-status international students, to include exchange program participants and those studying in the English Language Institute and via off-campus programs, are assessed $250 per quarter/per person for the duration of their study at EWU. Retention activities also include events and activities to support cultural acclimation to the campus environment.
