Teen & Kid Closet is for children who are often overlooked. The purpose of this organization is to serve children and the youth who are in need of clothing, particularly those who are in foster care or live in poverty. Teen & Kid Closet gives new or gently worn clothes and accessories to those children for free! Teen & Kid Closet’s mission statement is: “Every child is important and should feel that way. Teen & Kid Closet caters to children and youth in need, providing them with fashionable, good quality clothing and accessories for free. We give them choices when so often, they have none”.
Teen & Kid Closet makes a difference in youths’ lives as they provide new or gently used clothing to those in need. According to the TKC website, 11,000 children in Washington State are in foster care, and 3,000 “homeless kids” are listed in Spokane County. These are the children you see holding their possessions in a trash bag. Teen & Kid Closet is there to help those children by providing them quality clothing and accessories for free. In order for a child to be administered by Teen & Kid Closet, they must be referred by an authority, such as a school counselor or social worker. By partnering with Teen & Kid Closet, we are giving the youth hope and showing them how much our local community cares and believes in them!
Teachers should consider partnering with Teen & Kid Closet to get their students more involved within their local community. Teachers can inform students about this organization and with students come up with an idea to help support TKC and make a difference. Together, students and teachers can inform their entire school and hold an all school clothing drive. All clothes will be donated to the Teen & Kid Closet!
There are more ways to donate to TKC than just clothes!
