Spokane Cares strives to improve our community by:
Helping those in need find appropriate resources to meet their needs.
Helping service organizations communicate their vital messages.
Helping community members embrace service, and find meaningful ways to serve.
Spokane Cares makes a difference because it is a website that compiles a list of other organizations and resources in Spokane so that individuals and families can go to one website to find any resource that they may need. This website has lists of things to do, volunteer opportunities, and various resources for different needs around Spokane and is very clear, user friendly, and easy to navigate. Spokane Cares is a non-profit organization, and is a great organization for teachers to partner with to provide families and students with local community resources whether for their personal use or for helping others.
Partnering with Spokane Cares is more along the lines of utilizing the resources that they provide, and spreading the word. Teachers couldeasily take information on various organizations from this website and make a brochure that is specific to the needs of a family or classroom culture. This would be helpful to families foreasier access through a tangible copy rather than over the internet. Another way for teachers to partner with this website may be to find an organization from this page and do a classroom project to help that organization out. One last way to partner with this resource could be to, as a class, use the lists on the site to compile a tangible list of fun, free things to do around Spokane and post it where other families and students in the school would see it.
