Kootenai Humane Society is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals. This organization provides quality humane care, rehabilitation, adoption, and education for the good of the animals and their companions in our community. Their vision is to “create lifetime friends through adoption.”
When you choose to partner with Kootenai Humane Society, you are deciding to help a local non-profit no-kill animal organization that helps create better pet ownership by providing resources, training, programs, and education. All animals are treated respectfully and given full care regardless of how many animals are in the shelter at the time. They are not turned away at all due to sickness, deformity, disability, special needs, looks, age, or social handicap. When learning about this organization, students can get a sense of what it means to respect all animals and to care for them as equally as anyone else they may care for. It also can teach students a sense of responsibility and leadership for stepping up and taking care of an animal in need.
Donations can be made to this organization, but they ask that you give them a call first, that way they can discuss the best way you can best serve their organization whether it’d be money donation, necessities, volunteers, etc. As a class, you can raise money as a fundraiser to donate to the KHS. You can also donate supplies such as toys, food bowls, and food. Or lastly, your class can also go to the humane society to volunteer to spend time with the pets and give them the extra love they need. You can also raise awareness of the Kootenai Humane Society by hanging up flyers of the KHS organization or giving handouts to students to take home so they can consider adopting a pet and giving them a safe home.
