Congratulations to EWU McNair Scholar Bakima Ssebanakitta! Bakima has been awarded a GSA position through EWU, and has been selected as the next GSA for the EWU McNair Scholar Program! She will be taking over the office GSA position, after Liina Koivula‘s graduation. Starting Fall 2023, you’ll find Bakima at the front desk in our main office, writing these posts, updating our social media accounts, following up with alumni, and offering writing feedback to scholars. Bakima will draw on her valuable experience as a McNair Scholar herself to support and guide the current and upcoming cohorts through research projects and graduate school application. We are so excited to have her working with us!
Bakima will graduate from EWU in 2023, majoring in Psychology through the Honors Program. For her 2022 Summer Research Internship, Bakima worked with Dr. Jillene Seiver on a research project titled Growth in Adults through the Covid-19 Pandemic. Bakima has seven years of experience in professional life coaching, mediation, and end-of-life facilitation applications. In counseling, her aim is to educate clients on self-advocacy and somatic approaches to healing. We know she will bring rigorous and nuanced study to Eastern Washington University’s Master of Science in Counseling: Clinical Mental Health Specialization program.
