When the whole class is not listening, being disruptive, or being too loud you simply say, “heads down!” and everyone puts their heads down on their desks. Then you can give instructions, or ask for better attention from students
When a situation or behavior problem has occurred, the student/s involved will be relocated to a classroom that has previously agreed to take on a student for a break. The student will be handed a pass and will go to the guest classroom for an allotted amount of time to cool off and remove themselves from where the issue had occurred.
Natural consequences are the outcomes or the consequence that happens as a result of the behavior. They are not preplanned consequences the teacher has in place if something happens. This tool is helpful because the consequence will naturally happen and be connected with the actual misbehavior, therefore it will make sense to the child.
Following through with consequences is a tool used that can be used to correct students when they are misbehaving. As a class at the begging of the school year we set class rules and as class when those rules are broken we are set consequences because we broke them.
Cool down cubes are a simple tool made from reusable ice cubes to help students who become emotional and need help calming back down. Each cube has a different “safe cool down strategy” that the child can complete to aid in bringing their emotions back into control.
Zones of Regulation is a tool used to help students identify and communicate how they are feeling in a healthy way. It also gives students ideas for how to feel better in a healthy way.
Students will able to fill out a work sheet that helps them resolve the ongoing conflict. This in turn will help them map out their conversation.
Logical consequences are consequences given to students that specifically align with what they did wrong. It is helpful because the student will know exactly what it is that they were not doing correctly and how they can fix it so as not to repeat it in the future.
This tool is designed for students with problematic behavior that revolves around their energy levels being higher than their peers or for students that find themselves acting out when the course load isn’t enough for them.
