4 Part Apology

Student Contributor: T. Prestegord
Students will able to fill out a work sheet that helps them resolve the ongoing conflict. This in turn will help them map out their conversation.

This tool should be used when their is a(n) on going situation in the classroom between students. It can be used for any sort of altercation but the more serious the altercation the more support from the teacher or other staff members should be present. This should give the student an opportunity to think over the situation for themselves and condense what they are thinking. All of this will help provide a road map toward fixing the situation and offering a simpler solution to the conflict.

This works well for the corrective phase because it prevents any big outbursts in class and help to resolve a(n) altercation before it gets turned into a big thing. It gives students the opportunity to reconsider what they have done and how they want to move forward. This could also be used for the supportive phase for if a student is upset with something that he or she did and wants to apologize of reflect on how it was handled. I also chose student directed because they are given full control of how things will be handled from that point forward unless it does not resolve the situation.

This tool is very user friendly, as an outline is given to use or to use as a reference when making your own. A success that I noticed when using this tool is that the student(s) do not need much direction, and are very proactive when using this on their own. This tool can even make apologizing easier and more obtainable because it provides structure for the student(s). This tool can be used by students to apologize to their peers, teachers, paraprofessionals, other faculty in the building, etc.
