Student & Alumni Spotlight: Michael Dundrea, ’21

This week’s Student & Alumni Spotlight focuses on Michael Dundrea, ‘21! Michael earned his MFA in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Fiction, and currently works as a Digital Skills Instructor at Goodwill in downtown Spokane, where he teaches Spokane community members about using digital skills and developing digital literacy. Prior to joining the team at Goodwill, Michael worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Gonzaga University.

In his Instructor role, Michael is grateful for the opportunity to work with a variety of populations at Goodwill. “I love meeting new people and helping them learn about computers and the internet,” Michael says. “[It’s] knowledge that many of us take for granted.”

If Michael could give any career advice to his fellow Eagles, it would be to “Do internships!”. Internships are essential professional learning experiences that complement what you’re learning in class, help you explore career choices, and learn how to navigate the real-world workplace.

If you are a current EWU student or proud alumnus with a job, internship, or career path you’d like to share with the EWU community, you can send us your submission here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PT8QJZC.
