Academic Standing

Your Academic Standing is your status as a student at EWU. The goal is to be in Good Standing by making sure your cumulative EWU GPA remains at 2.0 or above. Many programs have additional GPA requirements, but students must be in Good Standing to remain at EWU. If you are under Academic Warning or Probation, your advisor will help you get back on track.

Types of Academic Standing

Good Standing Expand

All EWU Students who have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher are in good academic standing.

Academic Warning Expand

Any first-quarter EWU student who does not earn the grades needed to have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is placed on Academic Warning.

Students on Academic Warning who do not to earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher in the next quarter will progress to Academic Probation.

Academic Probation Expand

Any continuing EWU student who does not earn the grades needed to have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is placed on Academic Probation.

Students on Academic Probation who do not earn a 2.0 or higher for the next quarter, and whose cumulative GPA is still below a 2.0 will be academically dismissed from EWU.

Academic Dismissal Expand

Students on Academic Probation whose cumulative and quarterly GPA remains remains below 2.0 will be dismissed from the University.

A student who has been academically dismissed from the University cannot enroll at EWU for the following regular academic quarter (fall, winter or spring).

After a first dismissal, a student is required to remain out of school for at least one academic quarter. After a second dismissal, a student is required to remain out of school for one academic year.

Private Tutoring

You may request a list of private tutors. These tutors work independently from the Mathematics Department and may charge $15-$50 per hour.

Online tutoring is available to all enrolled EWU students, including online students and those at extended campuses.

  • Live Tutor: Chat directly with a tutor during their available hours.
  • eQuestions: Submit a question through this option.
  • eWriting Lab: Allows for submitting up to three drafts of a paper

Use this calculator to see how well you need to do in future courses and how many credit hours you need to raise your current GPA to a desired GPA.
