Our spotlight this week is centered on K. Jacob Headley, who graduated from EWU in 2020 after studying marketing and communications. He currently works as a Food Service Manager for Costco.
“I started with Costco after college, had a handful of positions, was promoted to supervisor, and to manager a year later,” K. Jacob says. “I run the department, everything from hands-on production, to scheduling, inventory, hiring, maintaining safety training, to employee reviews. [My] end goal is to have my own building as a general manager or to work in a corporate/regional position.”
Mr. Headley did not expect to work at Costco after graduation, but currently has his sights set on progressing within the company. “[My] end goal is to have my own building as a general manager or to work in a corporate/regional position,” he says.
When asked about what he enjoys most about his current role, he says, “every day is different and the people in the warehouse I work with are some of the best that there are.”
If K. Jacob could give any career advice to his fellow Eagles, it would be to “Don’t say no to an opportunity. Secondly, there’s a reason we have two ears and only one mouth. Use both appropriately.”
