Term Types

Term type refers to the structure of the academic year and how it is divided into different periods of instruction. These systems determine how the academic year is organized regarding the length and number of instructional periods. EWU has three term types: Quarters, Semesters, and Online Accelerated.

Quarters

Quarter terms occur four times yearly: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Each term lasts on average 10 weeks and summer is only 8 weeks.

All students are on the quarter schedule unless enrolled in a Semester or Online Accelerated program.
