We are proud to announce that Zaid McCurdy, a distinguished undergraduate student at Eastern Washington University, has been accepted into the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Grand Canyon University.
Zaid, who majors in Applied Developmental Psychology with a minor in Sociology, is a dedicated scholar whose interests center on human development, social influences on behavior, and educational psychology. As a McNair Scholar, Zaid has demonstrated a passion for research, focusing on the psychological impact of digital media advancements on cognitive and socio-emotional development in underserved communities. His work aims to bridge the gap between psychological research and practical applications that support equitable outcomes for all individuals.
In 2025, under the mentorship of Dr. Jillene Seiver, Zaid is leading a study on the relationship between parenting styles, childhood screen time, and academic performance. His research explores how early family environments shape cognitive and academic outcomes, with a special focus on equity and long-term developmental success.
We are incredibly proud of Zaid’s achievements and his acceptance to Grand Canyon University’s MSW program. We look forward to seeing the positive impact he will continue to make in the field and beyond. Amazing job Zaid!
