Noemi

Noemi Noemí is studying Interdisciplinary Studies and Music Technology at Eastern Washington University, with minors in History and Political Science. Some of their research interests include how immigration policy affects communities and immigrants’ stories of struggle and joy as well as how labor connects to all of the above.
Noemí has been accepted to the Collaborative Site Program on Immigration Policy and US-Mexico Border Communities program where they will conduct collaborative projects with community partners on the nature and impacts of US immigration policy in the Paso del Norte borderlands region of Las Cruces-El Paso-Ciudad Juárez.
Noemí currently works at Nuestras Raíces in Spokane. Their role is to educate their Latino/a/e community about their worker rights and support them through the process of filing an L&I claim.
After graduation, Noemí aims to attend graduate school, culminating in a J.D./PhD, where they will research critical issues around immigration policy, as well as do pro-bono work to support people in their immigration cases.
When they are not at work or school, some of the things Noemí loves to do are sing, write poems/lyrics and create visual or sound art. You can find their music and art in local art shows and open mics.
