EWU McNair Scholar, Loni Taber, has completed a McNair Research Project this summer with her mentor, Dr. Christopher C. Kirby. Her research title is “A New Phenomenological Definition of Violence: Why The Language we use Matters”. Keep up the good work Loni! We are proud of you! \
McNair Scholar, Kim Jones, facilitated a workshop at the Council of Unions and Student Programs Leadership Conference early September. The tittle was “Whiteness as Property: Being Conscientious in Student Leadership”. We want to recognize Kim for this great accomplishment! Awesome work!
McNair Scholar Josiah Van Egdom presented at the Pacific Northwest Political Science Association Conference in Seattle WA on October 13. His research title is “Portrayals of Latina/os in News Media During the Trump Phenomenon”. Congratulations you Josiah and to your mentor Dr. Martin Meraz-Garcia!
McNair Scholar Laurisa Ankley presented a poster at the American Society for Microbiology Northwest Branch Meeting at WSU on Oct 13-14. The title of her research was “How supplemental iron impacts the antibacterial effects of Manuka honey”. She also received a top 4 poster award. Great Job Laurisa!
Sandra Espinoza has just returned from the Diversity Research Symposium at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She presented her research: Hermeneutical Phenomenological Analysis of Intracultural Bullying Between Mexican Americans and Mexican Immigrants. The theme for this symposium was Creating Brave Spaces for Inclusion, Equity, and Justice. Congratulations Sandra!
