EWU McNair Scholar, Monica Villegas, has completed a McNair Research Project this summer with her mentor, Dr. Justin Bastow. Her research title is “Simulated Wildfire Effects on Soil Ecosystem Productivity: In Response to Climate Change”. Keep up the good work Monica! We are proud of you!
McNair Scholar Laurisa Ankley presented a poster at the American Society for Microbiology Northwest Branch Meeting at WSU on Oct 13-14. The title of her research was “How supplemental iron impacts the antibacterial effects of Manuka honey”. She also received a top 4 poster award. Great Job Laurisa!
McNair Scholar, Christina Ramelow, has received the NSF S-STEM Scholarship for $7,000 for two years starting this Fall 2017! Congratulations Christina!

We are proud to say that two of our EWU McNair scholars have received the Daniel and Margaret Carper Foundation Scholarship. Veronica Albrecht and Edith Melendez will be receiving $10,000 each! Congratulations ladies!
Veronica Albrecht has been accepted into the SIGNALS research program for Summer 2017. This is an 8 week program that will give her the opportunity to do research in microbiological science and present her research project at a symposium. Congratulations Veronica!
