The Instructional Technology and Web Services (ITWS) team conducted several training sessions customized for both EWU staff and faculty. These two-hour workshops were designed to help participants stay current with essential technology tools and best practices.

Faculty Sessions

Accessibility


Relevant to approaching federal deadlines, participants learned how to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards when creating content and materials in their Canvas courses, ensuring that EWU content is usable by everyone.

Canvas Tools


This session focused on the latest feature enhancements in Canvas for Assignments, Discussions, and Rubrics. These new options provide tools to improve student engagement and optimize the efficiency of your class with a new easy to use interface.

Copyleaks


Ever need to check the originality of a submission to a Canvas assignment? This session offered an overview of Copyleaks, the new plagiarism and AI detection tool used to facilitate meaningful conversations about academic integrity with your students.

AI at EWU


This workshop wrapped up with an overview of AI best practices and available tools, giving attendees an opportunity to see how artificial intelligence can support daily tasks while ensuring the ethical and effective use of this emerging technology.

Web Accessibility


Learn how to explore the new website reports to assist you in meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards for your webpages, as well as how to ensure that your uploaded media files are also accessible to everyone.

Introduction to Etrieve


Etrieve (Softdocs) is a tool used by Eastern staff for document retention. Learn how Etrieve can be used for data collection, storage, and the retention of important EWU documents that have associated retention policies.

Digital Signage (Mvix)


Mvix is the new software being used to manage the content on the digital signs around campus. Explore how this new tool works and learn how to adjust and manage the digital displays in your buildings.

Workflow Options


This session includes a guide for selecting the tool that works best for your data collection and workflow processing needs. It explores WordPress, SurveyMonkey, Ellucian, and Softdocs to help you pick the right tool.

WordPress Overview


While WordPress is not a new tool at Eastern, there have been changes made to the editing features for your website. Join us to learn some tips and tricks for using the new block editor.
