The first annual Spokane Youth Book Festival is fortunate to be featuring bestselling author S.E. Grove at two events Saturday October 10th in Spokane.
Grove, whose 2014 debut for middle-grade readers, The Glass Sentence, was an Indiebound and New York Times Bestseller. The book was called a “delicious blend of magic, history, and science” by School Library Journal. Its sequel, The Golden Specific, was published this summer and continues the 19th century globehopping adventures of young protagonists Sophia and Theo and was called “brilliant in concept, breathtaking in scale and stellar in its worldbuilding” by Kirkus Reviews.
First, from 12:30-1:00 PM, as part of SpoYo’s daylong slate of free events at Eastern Washington University’s Spokane campus, Grove will lead a writing workshop children ages 10-12, helping young writers unlock their imagination.
The festival culminates at the Bing Crosby Theater that night at 7:00PM, when Grove will read from her work, talk about her inspiration and writing process, as well as take questions from the audience. Books to sign will be available from Auntie’s Bookstore.
This event is free to all youth and students with current ID. $5 suggested donation for adults to offset the cost of our venue, the gorgeous, historic Bing Crosby Theater.
The Bing is located at 901 W Sprague Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.
