FYEs may satisfy up to two requirements of the breadth areas. They will count toward the required 26 credits for breadth areas. FYE classes are optional, but strongly encouraged for all new first time freshmen.

Outcomes

The outcomes that will be infused across the content are intellectual and practical skills based on national standards.

Each breadth area course, including FYEs, addresses two GE outcomes, one from each group:

Group 1

  • Inquiry and analysis
  • Critical and creative thinking
  • Information literacy

Group 2

  • Writing and communication
  • Quantitative literacy

Diversity & Global Studies

Must address diversity/global issues and at least one of the following:

  • Inquiry & Analysis
  • Critical & Creative Thinking
  • Information Literacy

Capstone

A Senior Capstone should integrate General Education Major outcomes for a pinnacle EWU experience.
