Widest Instrument Ranges for Intermediate Players

Comments:

Some instruments have two different pitch ranges. These instruments, called transposing instruments, have a written pitch range and sounding pitch range. The written pitches are what the performer reads when they play. The sounding pitches are what is heard.  For example, the guitar’s lowest string is written as E (pitch 32) below middle C.  When played the E sounds an octave lower than notated (pitch 20).  So, the guitar is a transposing instrument.
