Instructions for using Music Algorithms’ Division Operation
How to Begin:
Go to the Algorithm section (in the red area) Enter the number “10” in the box labeled “Number of integers in the sequence (3 to 100).” Then click “Get algorithm output.”
Goal: The first 10 Fibonacci numbers will appear in a box below called Algorithm Output Values in the Pitch section.
Go to the Pitch section (in the orange area) and change the “scaling” values to 1-88 (pitch range). Click on the button for “perform division operation,” it may already be active due to the default setting. Then click on the “Scale values” button.
Goal: The Fibonacci numbers are transformed to fit the range 1-88. The new numbers appear in the box called Derived Pitch Values.
Skip the Durations section (in the green area). There is a default setting of uniform rhythmic values.
Go to the Compose section (in the blue area). Click on the play button.
How to Hear the Pitches:
A MIDI player will load momentarily.
Move the tempo slider up to 130 (more or less).
Optional: Choose a fun instrument patch from the drop-down menu.
Click play, and watch the piano keys light up in red as the numbers scroll over the top.
