“The West Valley Civics Conference was launched in 2010 by the Partnership for Civic Engagement, a joint program of the West Valley School District and Eastern. The group works to advance the common good by cultivating citizens who are civically aware, think critically, value social justice, are involved civically in their communities, and understand the purpose of government. The Partnership was founded in 2007 by longtime West Valley School District Board Member Jim Williams, who is also a member of the National Center for Learning and Citizenship’s 100 District Leaders network, Bill Goetter of the EWU Department of Education and Helen Bergland of the EWU Office of Student Learning, Assessment and Instruction.”
This year on February 20, 2015 Supreme Court Justice, Debra Stephens and the Eastern Washington University president, Mary Cullinan and university educators joined together for this year’s sixth annual conference. For more information about this article from Eastern’s 24/7 please click here.
