What do you know about the Civil Rights Movement?
Dr. Kate Shuster author of “Teaching the Movement: The State of Civil Rights Education“
will be at Eastern Washington University on January 21, 2015 to speak about the findings of this research, why it’s important, and what we can do as individuals and as a university to make a difference!
In a 2014 study conducted by the Southern Poverty Law Center, researchers found that over 70% of states in the U.S. lack “adequate” curriculum for educating students about the Civil rights movement. Of those states, 14% have no Civil Rights curriculum requirements at all.
