Tiago Correia is a first-generation, low-income student working towards a Bachelor of Science in mathematics at Eastern Washington University. He is interested in several areas of math, including topology, complex analysis, and algebra, and he will be attending Central Convergence Research Experiences for Undergraduates (CC-REU) at Central Washington University this summer. He plans to one day attend a PhD program in mathematics, and after that, his goal is to do postdoctoral research and become a professor.
Tiago currently works as a tutor at the Kingston Math Tutoring Lab and for PLUS (the Program Leading to University Success). Subjects he has tutored include precalculus I and II, calculus I-III, and linear algebra. In his free time, he enjoys endurance sports – running, cycling, and swimming – perusing nutrition articles he finds on PubMed, and reading philosophy.
